Overview
Pontiac Civitan Club mission: We strive to provide knowledge, personal development and service to people inside and outside Oakland County, Michigan with emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities.
Community involvement: Civitan encourages members to work with people with developmental disabilities and help make communities better places to live and work. The Pontiac Civitan Club uses both fundraising and hands-on projects to improve the quality of life for community members.
Personal development: Interesting speakers and programs are part of every club meeting. Many programs center around Civitan topics, and some involve business and community leaders on various subjects.
Networking possibilities: Founded in 1917, Civitan International has more than 55,000 members with clubs in 24 countries. District and international conventions provide the opportunity for members to meet Civitans from around the world and share ideas.
History
The Pontiac Civitan Club was chartered in 1941 and has continued to play a vital role in the north Oakland county area.
Since the early 70s, the club has donated over $167,000 to programs serving he developmentally disabled.
Meeting Times and Place
The club meets most Thursdays at noon during the school year at Oakland Technical Centers in Pontiac and in the summer at the Pontiac Country Club.
