Projects
The civitan club of Pontiac is involved in a variety of service projects to help residents of our community.
Some of our projects are:
Fellowship projects: Working together on club projects is rewarding and there is always time to enjoy the company of other club members and guests at club meetings. Several times throughout the year instead of Thursday noon meeting an evening or weekend social event is scheduled.
Fund-raising projects: The following fund-raising projects are conducted throughout the year to raise grand monies for nonprofit agencies in the community and to support our service projects:

Service Projects:
The Arc of Oakland County
The Arc of Oakland County works through education, research and an advocacy to improve the quality of life for children and adults with mental developmental disabilities and their families. It also works to prevent both the causes and effects of mental developmental disabilities. Learn more.
Art Experience
Art Experience is a therapeutically based, hands on studio that encourages creativity, individuality and fun. The staff includes trained art therapists, art educators and artist. Learn more.
Camp Fire USA
Camp Fire USA day camp has helped children make lasting memories for over 50 years. Many children in need of financial assistance are able to attend camp because of generous contributions to the Campership Fund. Learn more.
Civitan International Research Center
Civitan International Research Center has a focus on preventing and treating a range of developmental developmental disabilities that affect children and families. Learn more.
Civitan Youth Leadership and Diversity Conference
Civitan Youth Leadership and Diversity Conference in an opportunity for high school students to experience a leadership program that is unique. Exercises developed will enhance their knowledge of who they are and where they fit into the complexities of an ever-changing society. Learn more.
Crossroads for Youth
Crossroads for Youth is a nonprofit organization with two distinct areas of service. The core programs provide troubled children a supportive, positive environment in which to learn how to succeed in life. The Adventure Center offers therapeutic bonding experiences in businesses, churches, schools, sports teams. Community organizations, as well as families and individuals. Learn more.
Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan
Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan provides home furnishings, free of charge, to families and individuals in crisis. Groups volunteer to provide mops, brooms, and buckets filled with cleaning supplies to ensure their new "homes" are clean and healthy. Learn more.
Henry Ford Parkinson's Disease Center
Henry Ford William T. Gossett Parkinson's Disease Center's physicians, scientists and academicians work hard to discover new and better ways to diagnose and treat diseases and illnesses. Learn more.
Lighthouse of Oakland County
Civitan Club of Pontiac provides Thanksgiving Food Baskets as well as Adopt-A-Senior for the Holidays. Learn more.
Rochester Area Neighborhood House
Neighborhood House is a community service organization that assists individuals and families in need with food, clothing and transportation services. Learn more.
New Horizons Rehabilitation
New Horizons Rehabilitation Services is to enhance the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities. They provide a well-designed habilitation and rehabilitation programs that address vocational, economic and social needs of each person served. Learn more.
North Oakland SCAMP
North Oakland SCAMP provides a summer program that meets the challenges of youth with special needs. The 5-week program includes activities to help enhance social interaction, motor skills, self-image and academic skills to more than 300 students. Learn more.
Paint A Miracle
Paint A Miracle is a non-profit Art Studio that offers people with developmental disabilities an opportunity to develop their artistic talents. It is a place where the focus is on abilities, no abilities. Learn more.
Special Olympics Michigan
Special Olympics Michigan offers many sports for its participants to enter and enjoy. Learn more.
New Bethel Outreach
New Bethel Outreach provides shelter for homeless families. Civitan Club of Pontiac adopts a formerly homeless family for Thanksgiving and Christmas and provides a week's worth of groceries as well as a Holiday dinner and a gift certificate for $150.00 to be used at a local grocery store. The club also gives the children of school age a "Back to School" party. Learn more.
Meeting Times and Place
The club meets most Thursdays at noon during the school year at Oakland Technical Centers in Pontiac and in the summer at the Pontiac Country Club.
